Services:

The County Clerk serves as the Secretary of the County Commission and keeps records of the proceedings and actions of the Commission. In addition, the County Clerk is the Scott County election authority and oversees the activities that take place before and during all state, municipal, school and local elections including voter registration and issuing absentee ballots.

The County Clerk's office is also responsible for:

  • issuing Notary Commissions to those who are approved by the Secretary of State.
  • issuing flood plain permits.
  • sale of liquor licenses in Scott County.

Some older records of the county are kept by the County Clerk. These include some birth and death records from 1883 -1886 and county court records though they are limited in number. Anyone interested in the older records should first contact the office to confirm hours and costs of copies.

Submit a request for an absentee ballot in writing to the County Clerk's office. Include your name, address, social security number, your reason for requesting an absentee ballot and the address to which the ballot should be mailed.

How can I obtain a floodplain permit?

Contact the County Clerk's office with the following information: name of property owner, parcel number, any information you may have on the property's elevation and a physical 911 address.
