PUBLIC TESTING OF AUTOMATIC TABULATION EQUIPMENT

Notice is hereby given that a public test of the automatic tabulating equipment to be used for the August 6, 2024 Primary Election will be held at the Scott County Courthouse, 131 S. Winchester St., Room 105, Benton, MO 63736 on July 26, 2024 at 8:00 a.m.

The test will be observed by at least two persons designated by the election authority, one from each major political party, and will be open to the public.

The test will ascertain that the equipment is in compliance with the law and that it will correctly count the votes cast for all offices and on all questions.  The test will be conducted by processing a pre-audited group of ballots.  If any error is detected, the cause shall be ascertained and corrected, and an errorless count shall be made before the tabulating equipment is approved.

ABSENTEE BALLOT COUNTING

Notice is hereby given that absentee ballot preparation and counting for the August 6, 2024 Primary Election will take place on Election Day at the Scott County Courthouse, 131 S. Winchester St., Room 105, Benton, MO 63736.  This process will be completed by teams of election judges, one from each major political party. 

Pursuant to Section 115.257.5, for the purposes of processing absentee ballots cast by voters in person, we have implemented voting machines.  All mail in absentee ballots were cast using envelopes and will be processed using the appropriate procedures according to statute.  No results will be released until after the polls close at 7:00 p.m.

POST TESTING OF AUTOMATIC TABULATION EQUIPMENT

Notice is hereby given that the post test of the automatic tabulating equipment used for the August 6, 2024 Primary Election will be held at the Scott County Courthouse, 131 S. Winchester St., Room 105, Benton, MO 63736 on August 8, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.

The test will be observed by at least two persons designated by the election authority, one from each major political party.

VERIFICATION BOARD AND CERTIFICATION OF ELECTION RESULTS

Notice is hereby given that the Verification Board will convene on August 9, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. to verify and certify the results of the August 6, 2024 Primary Election at the Scott County Courthouse, 131 S. Winchester St., Room 105, Benton, MO 63736. Random selection of at least 5% of the precincts will be manually counted. The verification and certification process will be completed by a bi-partisan team of election judges.
